Sue is so caring and helpful, that she has often stayed in the patient’s room longer than I have or went back into the room to reassess the situation.
As nurses, we seldom get recognized for the work we do, so I wanted to make sure this special nurse didn't go unnoticed. Being pulled in general can sometimes be difficult, especially when things happen that you aren't familiar with. I've been pulled to 6 North several times and when Sue Schultz is working she is my go-to person. In the recent times I've been pulled there, I've had emergent patient situations that I couldn't handle on my own. So of course, I called Sue! Anytime I've called Sue to help me she's been right there. She's never once said, "Well, what do you need?", or tried to troubleshoot over the phone. I've never felt like I was bothering her, and to be honest I've had to call her a lot! In fact, Sue is so caring and helpful, that she has often stayed in the patient's room longer than I have or went back into the room to reassess the situation.
Sue is also great with the families and knows just what to say to explain or calm any situation. I've watched her comfort family members with such compassion, just as if they were her own. Not only is Sue helpful, but she has this calming presence which is not only beneficial for the patient but for me as the nurse caring for the patient as well! Skills can be taught to nurses, but the loving kindness Sue has shown me is truly a representation of who she is. She is a model nurse and her healing presence is one that is great to be around; especially while working in the stressful career we've chosen as nurses. I just want Sue to know that even though our interactions are infrequent, my appreciation for her goes beyond what I can express. Thank you, Sue, for your willingness to help me, and for being a model nurse. I truly appreciate you!
