Allison cared for this patient on her last day of life. Throughout the day, she built a trusting and caring relationship with the patient and her very large family. As her shift was ending, Allison noted that the end of life process was going to extend into the night shift. Rather than passing off the patient to the next shift, she stayed on for several hours in order to see the plan through. She and the family had built a bond throughout the day and mapped out how the patient could spend time with her family while also focusing on her comfort. Allison stayed with the patient and family to see it through and provided this patient and family with a dignified death for their loved one. Allison is a great nurse and while we are lucky to have her every day, it was particularly evident for this patient and her family that day. Thank you for all you, Allison. We appreciate you.
