In April 2019 I had a double mastectomy and was an inpatient on D12 for 2 nights. Without a doubt, all of my caregivers were top notch. Everyone was courteous, respectful, and kept me informed of my care. One of my primary caregivers was Robert. He was my night nurse both nights. He was an exceptional nurse throughout my stay but my reason for this nomination goes above his nursing care. Shortly after Robert came on shift, he was checking on me and I got very nauseous and needed to get to the bathroom. When I got into the bathroom Robert immediately noticed I was white as a sheet and about to collapse and he did what he had to, to keep me from falling. It takes a lot of courage and skill to grab a falling woman and do it without harm or accidental foul. He held me stable for at least 2 minutes until it was safe to return me to bed. What was most amazing about Robert is how he treated me with ultimate compassion like he understood the humiliation I was feeling. Being a female, an employee, and exposed except for the gown I was so embarrassed that he had to catch me and keep me stable. In those few moments, he never stepped out of character he remained composed and compassionate. I was so overwhelmed with gratitude that he was my nurse that night. Throughout my stay, he checked on me and kept me informed of my stats to put me at ease that I was going to be OK. Thank you, Robert!
