My 15-year-old son needed emergency surgery to drain an arachnoid cyst in his brain. This cyst put extraordinary pressure on his brain and was the size of my fist. We were terrified and, after a 4+ hour surgery, was struggling to control his pain. When Zoe began taking care of us, my son’s pain was excruciating, and he hadn’t slept since his surgery (the day before). We were exhausted and scared. Zoe met us at the entry and jumped immediately to plan a pain management schedule. I’m certain we were a great deal of work for her, but she seemed to understand our fears. She lovingly assisted my son. She found ways to ease his pain outside of medicine, and with his medicine, we were able to relax, rest, and recover.
