My 75 year-old mother came into the ER in Perrysburg. She had been struggling with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on and off for about 5 years, and her health was declining rapidly. Her oncologist recommended that she come to the hospital. We waited and waited (as you do at hospitals), meeting various nurses and doctors, my mom not being quite happy with any of them.

We finally made it to her hospital room after her blood transfusion, and she was exhausted. Our nurse's name was Zach and we are so appreciative of that. He was so patient and compassionate with my mother, who wasn't at her best. His attunement to her needs was a skill you can't teach. She was deeply kind to my ailing mother, and he has clearly found his calling as a nurse. He was humble yet knowledgeable; gentle yet assertive; kind yet firm. He is truly an extraordinary nurse and person, and he deserves to be recognized for this.
