Dr. Creighton has been such a cheerleader and truly helped give me the motivation and encouragement that I so needed at that time.
Dr. Creighton is an assistant professor in the School of Nursing at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from MTSU, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Austin Peay State University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and post-master’s certificate from Maryville University of St. Louis.  Over the last 11 years, she has taught courses in almost every semester of the undergraduate nursing program, in addition to teaching in the graduate nursing program. Six years ago, she fell in love with mental health nursing and pursued a post-master’s certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Since that time, she has exclusively taught mental health nursing to undergraduate nursing students and developed the PMHNP track in the graduate program.

She was nominated by a student with whom she worked throughout the graduate PMHNP program. Of Dr. Creighton, the student wrote, “She has been a tremendous help to me and I’m sure to ALL of her students. She goes beyond the call of duty to help students. Any and all times that I have reached out to her, she ALWAYS reaches back out to me in a timely manner. I have been overwhelmed at times, and Dr. Creighton has been such a cheerleader and truly helped give me the motivation and encouragement that I so needed at that time. And now, I have one semester left to complete this PMHNP program. Dr. Creighton has been non-judgmental, encouraging, and truly a nurse leader and teacher! She deserves this DAISY Award and I personally would like to nominate her.”
