My brother had been in ICU for a few weeks. He had suffered a heart attack, had a triple bypass (which failed), and had an Impella implanted (intended for 6 hours but was still going weeks later). The promise of a permanent LVAD had been retracted. We were checking nearby hospitals to see if they would take him for an LVAD.
All our spirits were at their lowest, including my brother's when Yonus came on the scene. He was highly professional but very upbeat. His positive attitude was contagious, and he put it into action. He bathed and freshened my brother's gown and bed and went above and beyond and shaved and trimmed his beard! He got him to sit in the chair and he kept his wife and daughter up to date on what was going on.
When another hospital turned him down for an LVAD Yonus kept everyone's hope alive that a third hospital would take him -- and they did -- thanks in a large part to the work Yonus encouraged my brother to keep doing and the attitude he inspired. Yonus stands out in a cadre of excellent nurses!
