Yonne is extra, extra, extra special! My husband and I agree that Yonne is the most caring, compassionate, good-hearted nurse we have ever experienced.  She is full of light in life.  I watched her as she took care of my husband’s needs and she took care of the little things, too.  My husband had blood on his gown when he was admitted and when she noticed it she immediately put a clean gown on him. She made sure he was comfortable in bed. She changed his fistula wound bandage that had not been changed, cleaned, or even looked at since we arrived. She noticed his oxygen got very low as he slept and put him on oxygen.  He was scheduled for PT but never got seen, so Yonne just placed clean sheets on his bed before her shift ended. 

I know that what I am writing are all things a nurse should take care of but all of this meant so much to my husband and I.  He has been in and out of Mountainview for the last two months, and this is our third trip back. Yonne is an outstanding nurse and we feel she deserves the recognition. Another thing I’d like to add is that my husband has a Dexcom G7 (continuous glucose monitoring). I told her all about it, how it worked, and how much it has helped my husband control his blood sugar.  She said she is going to tell someone she knows about it who has diabetes. When I say she cares about people, she truly does! That’s the kind of person Yonne is.  She tries to help those around her. She smiles all the time and we can tell she loves her job and her profession.  

My husband was moved to IMC, so we only had Yonne for one shift. We were certainly blessed, as I am sure all of her patients and family members in the past, present, and future have been and will be. We hope Yonne will be honored with the DAISY award. We know she truly deserves it.
