My Father was admitted to 7 West in Valley Hospital. He came in on a Sunday with mental status changes that progressively worsened. He has a history of dementia, but it only affected him in small ways, like dressing himself, so when he continued to decline, our family was begging the medical staff to take notice.  On Tuesday morning when she got on the shift, we showed her a video of my dad talking and laughing on that day and she realized that this was not his baseline. She immediately called a rapid response, and an entire medical team was at the bedside. The team did a full workup and started him on antibiotics. He went from obtunded to recognizing us all that night and the next day laughing and walking. We really do feel that she heard the voice of the patient and the family.

Yesenia is a perfect model nurse  She is caring, loving, and on the ball.  She picked up so many things that were not added to the labs, called the doctors, and cared for my elderly father of 92 years old. I have never had a nurse who cared the way she does.  She has the patience of a saint.  God bless you, Yesenia!  You were heaven-sent.
