That day, Yajaira was my friend, my rock, my apple juice deliverer, my angel, and my forever life touching nurse.
I am a first-time mother who was hopeful for a natural labor but ultimately scheduled for an induction. I was nervous, frightened, and had no clue what to expect or how painful the process of birth would be. Yajaira was with me every step of the way.

She kept me distracted while getting an epidural and had tissues on hand because I kept crying. Later in the day, we had a scary moment where my blood pressure had dropped slightly, with shortness of breath and nausea. Soon, my baby’s heart rate dropped, showing that we were both physically in distress. Yajaira noted this immediately on the monitors and quickly began changing my position to help my baby and me recover.

This had a limited effect, so she notified my OB, adjusted my medications, and provided oxygen for me. My baby and I soon recovered to normal levels, but it was such a scary moment. “Was my baby going to be okay? Did we need an urgent C-section? Was this going to happen again?” These thoughts raced through my mind, but I had absolute faith in Yajaira taking care of my baby and me. She was calm, collected, and decisive, which gave me such peace in that moment of utter helplessness.

Yajaira later held my hand (and leg) as my beautiful baby girl was born before shift change. She was one of the first smiling faces that I looked up to right after birth, and I could see the genuine happiness for me in her eyes. That day, Yajaira was my friend, my rock, my apple juice deliverer, my angel, and my forever life touching nurse. She is a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate person who showed me what true care in the hospital looks like. She holds a very special place in my heart, and I appreciate her more than words can ever convey.

Thank you, Yajaira!
