In a world where healthcare often feels rushed and clinical, she reminded me that real healing comes not only from medicine, but from human connection.
I was admitted for a 1-day laparoscopic hysterectomy. Post-procedure nurse Yaida was one of the first people I saw. She was gentle, informative, helpful, and kind. She made sure that I was able to eat, drink, and urinate before discharge. She organized to get my daughter into the room to help me get dressed. She carefully reviewed all of my discharge instructions, patiently answered my questions, and helped me to feel relaxed, confident, and at ease. I have had several procedures throughout my lifetime, and nurse Yaida, with the other discharge team members, was the most attentive that I have experienced to date. Thank you. Other NYU patients and I are fortunate to be in such good hands.

After my hip replacement surgery, I was placed in a recovery room that wasn’t very comfortable. I felt vulnerable, in pain, and far from home. But then came a nurse whose kindness changed everything. She didn’t just do her job — she cared for me as a mother would care for her child.
With every hygiene procedure, she was gentle, respectful, and full of compassion. Her hands were careful, but it was the warmth of her heart that truly helped me heal. I will never forget the way she made me feel — safe, seen, and valued.
In a world where healthcare often feels rushed and clinical, she reminded me that real healing comes not only from medicine, but from human connection. Her presence was a gift, and I truly believe the medical field needs more people like her.
Thank you for being my light during one of my most difficult moments.
