One moment that captured Pla’s spirit of care came when a patient shared how grateful he was that she spoke to him in their home language. He felt uncertainty and stress, but her willingness to connect in a personal, familiar way brought him deep comfort. He said, “It made me feel cared for not just as a patient, but as if she was part of my family, explaining everything that was happening, why it was happening, and what would come next." This simple act meant the world to him and exemplified what compassionate care truly looks like.

Pla consistently goes above and beyond to make sure her patients feel safe, seen, and respected. She listens, advocates, and treats each person not just as a patient, but as a whole human being with their own story. Her patients often express how deeply cared for they feel, and how her presence brings calm in the midst of chaos. She leads with her heart, and her patients—and their families—feel it.
