Wendy stepped into a new role that had just been created and has leaned into challenging and potentially uncomfortable situations. The position is there to be a resource to the house, supporting patients and staff, and bridging any gaps or barriers that may occur. On June 11th, Wendy came down to the ER to help with a sensitive issue regarding fetal tissue. A bereaved mother did not want to leave her fetus until she knew that she was leaving under the right circumstances. Multiple attempts had been made to multiple leaders with no answers on what to do with the tissue. Wendy went out of her way to help during her busy shift to contact multiple pathology supervisors, the morgue, and others, as well as came personally to see the ED nurses and the residents and assist with putting correct orders in so that the tissue could be properly handled. This also gave the mother the closure she needed to be able to leave the hospital. We are all so thankful for Wendy as she consistently has solutions and answers and listens to concerns! Wendy addresses difficult situations head-on, finds solutions, and communicates effectively. This type of compassion and work ethic is consistently demonstrated by Wendy on a daily basis. We are so lucky to work with her!
