Wendy took Mom's hand in hers and held it, and with her other hand, she gently rubbed Mom's hair and the side of her face, saying, "I Love You. I Love you so much."
First I wanted to recognize everyone at this facility from administration, cleaning crew, CNA s, Nurses, Minister, Doctors, volunteers, the whole experience of the saddest time of my life was made so much better from the level of care and concern for my mother as well as me and the rest of the family visiting. The reason I believe Wendy deserves this award is for her huge heart, love, and compassion. There are many times you could see this in her, I cannot name them all, or I would be writing a book. There was a special moment for me when I was sitting on the couch, and she came in and was checking on Mom, and Mom reached up and grabbed her arm. Wendy took Mom's hand in hers and held it, and with her other hand, she gently rubbed Mom's hair and the side of her face, saying, "I Love You. I Love you so much." And she stayed right there, not rushing off, and my mom was looking up at her, and I could see comfort and peace in her eyes. That was a special moment of a complete stranger's love and compassion that felt like family, like we had known her for years. Anyone can say I love you to anyone, but to actually feel the feeling behind those words, especially from a stranger, is something else. I cannot even think of a word to describe it. Thank you, Wendy. Thank you to the entire staff for being there and providing comfort to my mom and letting her pass in dignity and love, and helping me and my other family through the process, taking time for us and our questions, and providing a place for us to have privacy when needed, and providing care when needed. I recommend this for anyone needing love and comfort for the end of this life process, or for handling symptoms, then returning to their home.
