I would like to nominate Wendy for the DAISY Award for the incredible care and compassion she has shown to one of our critically ill patients. She has truly gone above and beyond, especially in supporting this gentleman’s two very young daughters.

The impact she has made on them is remarkable. Every day when they come to visit their father, they ask for “Ms. Wendy.” In an incredibly difficult and sad time, she has selflessly created moments of comfort and beauty for them. Watching them make a family tree using their fingerprints and their father’s brought tears to my eyes. The smiles on their faces during such a challenging time were truly something special.

I am so thankful that these simple gestures will be lasting memories of their father. Those little girls are so brave, and I believe that is in large part because of the care and reassurance she has provided. Wendy has helped make this experience less frightening for them, and we all feel her influence as a team.

In a world where the health care system is often met with distrust, Wendy has built genuine trust with these girls and their mother. I also want to acknowledge and thank her for the collaboration she has shown with the ICU team for this patient. Her dedication and heart make a real difference.
