This team works with compassion and dedication to deliver informed care and support to our most complex young people. The children and young people this team supports often have complex backgrounds and present with mental health, emotional, and social care crises.
At times, some of our young people experience distressing dysregulation; the compassion and connection this team provides to support them during this is outstanding. They connect with our Children and Young People and provide truly personalised care to meet their likes and dislikes, taking time to know what they enjoy or what helps them to regulate.
Recently, there have been a number of complex, high-risk, emotionally challenging cases; I have witnessed the compassionate, sensitive, respectful care this team has provided to meet personal needs. Taking time to really understand the background of each patient, even down to getting favourite foods (jacket potato, plain with salt and pepper and Percy Pigs!) and toiletries, braiding hair, providing a mini spa session, creating distraction activities to make each child feel seen, heard and supported at some of the worst points in their life.
I am so proud of the commitment and trauma-informed care that this team provides; I could not be prouder of them and all they do for our patients and their families day after day. They support each other through challenging times and work brilliantly as a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with our CAMHS and safeguarding teams to advocate for our Children and Young People.
