Vita never rushed with me. She made me feel like I was her only patient and #1 priority.
First, Vita let me sleep. I wasn't able to get much sleep but remember her doing the bedside report at shift change. When I finally woke up, she came as soon as she could to answer my call bell. She sat down and listened to me - no typing on the computer, no messing with her unit phone, just super attentive and involved with what I was saying.
Vita made sure I was comfortable, not rushing or leaving until she was absolutely sure I had everything I needed. She went out of her way to get the supervisor involved in getting an issue handled from night shift AND to get me the lavender oil no matter what. The nurse supervisor brought it. She was amazing as well. Vita never rushed with me. She made me feel like I was her only patient and #1 priority. She was on top of all my orders for meds, etc., and made it a point to come in soon after meeting with any specialist that happened to check on me and make sure I was okay.
Procedurally her techniques were on point. (I work as a paramedic for EMS.) She cleaned the hub of the I.V. prior to any med she administered and did cross-checks. She always told me what she was giving while wearing a mask and gloves (which my night shift CNA did not). She was thorough in her H-T assessment and help with ambulation and repositioning. She made sure I was safe and always had my call light. Overall, with Vita's care, my anxiety got better just because of her care and understanding. When I cried, she brought me tissues. When I could finally walk without pain, she whooped and laughed with me.
She is just an amazing caregiver. We all know nursing can be taught, but compassion comes from something inside. I am so blessed to have her on my care team today. I can honestly say her love and caring helped me heal today.
