Vincent’s ability to be present and steadfast in such a heartbreaking situation is a true testament to his character and dedication to the well-being of others.
My 91-year-old aunt was brought into the ED with signs of a stroke. Vincent was her nurse for 6 hours. He was so attentive, kind, and professional the whole time. My uncle was so concerned; however, Vincent explained every procedure and reassured them that their aunt was getting the best care. Vincent would answer any question we asked. The trust that my aunt, uncle, and I had in him was immediate. Words cannot describe how important he was to my aunt's visit at Carroll and how he put my uncle and I at ease the whole time.

I am honored to nominate Vincent Mattingly for the DAISY Award in recognition of his exceptional care and unwavering compassion in caring for our beloved colleague D, in the unexpected final moments of her life. D was a 30-year veteran ER nurse at Carroll. Vincent went above and beyond, providing not only the highest level of professional care but also offering emotional support to her and those around her.
In a setting where emotions ran high, Vincent stepped up and kept a calm demeanor. He exemplified what it means to be a truly exceptional nurse - someone who treats every patient with the same level of care and dedication, even when that patient is a co-worker and dear friend. His kindness and empathy were evident as he comforted our beloved coworker, ensuring her dignity and final wishes. Vincent’s ability to be present and steadfast in such a heartbreaking situation is a true testament to his character and dedication to the well-being of others. He consistently shows unwavering dedication, treating each patient with the utmost respect and kindness and always ensuring their comfort and dignity. Whether it’s offering a kind word, anticipating needs before they are voiced, or simply being a calming presence, Vincent makes an impact that goes far beyond the call of duty. His care isn’t limited to medical attention—he connects with those in his care on a human level, offering a genuine sense of reassurance and peace. Vincent is the embodiment of everything that the DAISY Award stands for.
