Vicki quickly and calmly identified that there was a problem and notified all the appropriate resources.
Vicki's relentless commitment to quality and safety saved a patient's life. A patient had a chest tube in place. The surgical PAs administered tPA earlier in the shift. Several hours later, the patient reported shortness of breath and chest pain/pressure. Within the hour, the patient started to decompensate; he was tripoding with increased oxygen requirements. The patient was anxious and scared. Vicki quickly and calmly identified that there was a problem and notified all the appropriate resources. With such a keen assessment, nursing skills, and experience, the patient was able to get to a higher level of care. Thank you, Vicki, for your exceptional and compassionate care. Our patients and colleagues are lucky to have you!
