Without hesitation, Vicki rushed to the aid of this person while the other person called 911 from their offsite location to get medical help.
Vicki is an outstanding LPN with 25 years of nursing experience. 24 of those years of experience with patients at RRH. She has provided excellent nursing care to patients across our system at 5800, TWIG/OPD, and Urgent Care and now uses her nursing expertise to impact teams as a member of the ambulatory clinical education team.
Vicki recently played a crucial role in assisting a staff member who was experiencing a medical emergency while at work. This team member was attempting to reach out for help via teams to a co-worker, indicating that they felt they were having a stroke. Unfortunately, this employee is part of a team that is scattered across the primary care regions and was, therefore, alone in their suite at Riedman when this occurred. This suite has limited access to the staff working in the Riedman building. Quick thinking led that person to reach Vicki, knowing she was in the building and had access to the needed area. Without hesitation, Vicki rushed to the aid of this person while the other person called 911 from their offsite location to get medical help. Vicki was able to assess the situation and gather important information to provide EMS upon arrival.
Vicki provided a calming and reassuring presence to this team member, who is forever thankful for her actions! Vicki even went as far as attempting to locate family contacts in his cell phone to notify them. He cleaned up the area after their departure with EMS and secured personal belongings. This meant a lot to me and the impacted team members. Vicki's quick actions, compassion, caring, and kindness contributed to a positive outcome for this staff member. Vicki upholds our purpose to uplift humanity through care for our community as well as the values of being rooted in the community and caring like family.
Vicki is an extraordinary person and clinical with a clear passion for nursing. She consistently displays and promotes the highest ethical standards and effectively demonstrates the true meaning of patient and humanitarian advocacy, as evidenced by this story. She is a leader with a passion and energy to make a difference every day! Additionally, she has shown growth throughout the course of her career and has a desire to pursue her RN in the near future. No matter what Vicki does, she approaches it with a positive attitude, a smile on her face, and an intention to impact the greater good.

Vicki ensured I had my phone on me at all times to communicate with my wife during my emergency. This may not sound like a big intervention, but it meant the world to me!
