On two separate days back-to-back, I was fortunate to work with Nurse Grossi. In a correctional setting, it is important to have strong clinical and assessment skills. The nursing staff was called to report to an unresponsive inmate. Security staff administered one dose of Narcan, and upon arrival, it was apparent that a secondary dose was needed. Without hesitation Nurse Grossi jumped into leadership mode and began assessing the inmate and making immediate decisions that were life saving.

The following night, a second inmate was reported unresponsive. I was the first responding nurse, and the inmate was again given multiple doses of Narcan. Nurse Grossi retrieved a stretcher and a backboard. With the help of our security staff, the inmate was taken to our medical department, where we were able to provide medical care. It was because of Nurse Grossi that I was successful in my nursing care to both inmates. Nurse Grossi is a strong teammate and support person in an emergency.

Nurse Grossi has been a charge nurse at our facility for five years and is one of our younger nurses. Nurse Grossi handles herself as a seasoned nurse despite her age. Nurse Grossi has continued her nursing education to have completed her bachelor's degree and is planning to continue to be an NP with a concentration in mental health.

Nurse Grossi is always reliable. She truly is a lifesaver in the storm.
