Her empathy for a scared patient’s needs and fears, and her ability to project that empathy, is nothing short of miraculous.
First, Veronica has a very innate ability to explain why care is being administered or recommended. Her calm, assertive energy is ever-present and very calming. So, her excellent job skills are only magnified by her ability to quickly form a deep and real connection to people’s feelings.
Her empathy for a scared patient’s needs and fears, and her ability to project that empathy, is nothing short of miraculous. My husband was having a hard enough time breathing, but when I had to leave, and my husband‘s heart went off the grid, she not only prepped him just in case they needed to paddle him, but she also called me to let me know what was happening.
In my absence, she took his hands, got his focus, and assured him that even if her shift ended, she would not leave him. She assured him she would stay as long as it took to make sure he was okay. We were not sure he would be. He said he feared he was going to be gone and alone were it not for Veronica. For this, we are both eternally grateful.
She was the difference in his outcome. She has a special gift! She exemplifies what true care is! Very rare and amazing – she is the real deal! Veronica, you are recognized for the care, compassion, and expertise that you share with patients, colleagues, and peers. Thank you for your commitment to professional nursing and congratulations on this recognition!
