June 2026 Honoree
Veronica Lawler, RN
Veronica signed up as the primary nurse for a very challenging medical case of a 33-week preterm infant with significant brain injury from birth. The baby was in the NICU for nine months prior to discharge. Veronica navigated this complex case with grace, supporting the family and caring for her patient with love.
Through this long and emotionally taxing hospitalization, while other caregivers avoided taking care of this baby due to the difficult family and medical challenges, Veronica stuck with her patient with grace and compassion that was remarkable and laudable, exemplifying the very best of nursing.
This patient could not have had a finer nurse taking care of her and in her corner.
