I am honored to recognize Venus for her extraordinary compassion, leadership, and dedication to nursing excellence.
Over the past year, she has embraced me for who I am. She watches over their staff like a guardian angel, reaching out after difficult shifts to offer emotional support and show genuine empathy.
On more than one occasion, she has checked in on me after a rough day. During one of those times, I found myself in tears, and she was there to console me. In those moments, Venus was a pillar of strength and understanding.
One example of her exceptional leadership stands out clearly.
My surgeon was waiting for a patient to arrive in the operating room. Although the patient had arrived on time, it became apparent during the initial assessment that the patient had a significant anesthesia history. Thanks to Venus' steady guidance, the time was taken to listen to the patient and escalate the concern to the OR team. As a result, the patient received the appropriate care and monitoring and experienced a smooth, safe transition into the operating room and recovery.
Her calm presence, clinical wisdom, and intuitive teamwork created a sense of control and confidence. It was a powerful reminder of the impact that skilled leadership can have during high-pressure moments.
Her patience is limitless, and because of her belief in my practice and growth as a nurse, I am now able to serve as one of the RN preceptors—a role I undertake with responsibility and pride. Her confidence in me has empowered me to stretch beyond what I thought was possible.
