I experienced a complicated post-operative event, and my nurse, Vanessa McRandal, did not leave my side. Due to a chronic condition, it is very difficult for me to achieve adequate and timely pain control. Vanessa was highly skilled in managing my pain safely, utilizing all the PRN medications together in a timely manner. She took my pain management very seriously and would not stop until I was comfortable. I was unable to use the bedpan, so she safely assisted me out of bed, along with another nurse, and walked me to the bathroom. This was effective for me and provided significant relief, as I was retaining 700cc of urine. The most impressive thing Vanessa did was think outside the box and offer me a comfort measure. My chronic health condition necessitates frequent repeat surgical procedures, and Vanessa thoughtfully asked if I had ever tried a Glydo Single Dose prefilled syringe. I had not. With all the times I underwent this repeated procedure. This extra comfort measure offered me local pain control as well. I am so grateful to Vanessa that she didn't give up on me and continued to strive for pain-free results the entire time I was under her care. She ensured that the Glydo was called into my pharmacy and was ready for my discharge. Vanessa provided excellent post-operative care. I asked and she said yes. She serves as a role model for new nurses, ensuring that all bases are covered by thinking creatively and demonstrating a genuine caring attitude, wisdom, thoroughness, professionalism, empathy, and patience. The list goes on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I hope I am fortunate to have Vanessa at my next procedure.
