My mother had surgery for pancreatic cancer. She has been in the hospital all week, and Valerie has been the daytime nurse every day. She is so kind and compassionate to my mother. She has gone above and beyond to take care of her and the rest of our family, that has been in and out visiting. She has been an amazing advocate for her mom. I am a firefighter/paramedic, and I have been in this role for over 18 years. I say that to say that I have had countless interactions with nurses over the years, and Valerie is definitely one of the best. There is no single event that has occurred to bring about my nomination. It has been her consistency, genuine caring, and kindness that make me believe she is a prime candidate for the DAISY Award.
