Valerie told us she didn't want to leave my grandfather alone, which I realized was in case he passed before we arrived, he would have somebody by his side.
Valerie does her job with love. You can see that she enjoys what she does. Valerie made sure that my dad was taken care of while under her care. She also made sure we, the family, were comfortable and kept us informed throughout the whole journey from my dad being readmitted to ICU to his final moments. She shows compassion and care for her patients. She truly deserves an award, in our hearts, she is the best nurse UMC has, and UMC has the best nurses in EP.

-Family/Visitor
Valerie took care of my grandfather from the moment he was admitted to the moment he took his last breath. She was there the whole time taking care and kept a careful eye over him. We are eternally grateful for her and her care for our grandfather in his final weeks. She kept us all fully updated on his condition, explaining everything that was happening. She worked endlessly to keep him pain-free and comfortable in his last moments. All of us, as a family of 15, would like to nominate Valerie for The DAISY Award. This would honor his legacy.

Valerie is such an amazing nurse. She was the most helpful throughout our whole hospital visit. My grandfather was an amazing man who got nothing but the best from Valerie. My grandfather was in and out of ICU and every time he was in ICU, I just knew he was taken care of. Unfortunately, this visit didn't end as expected and my grandfather passed away. During his last minutes, after he was reluctantly taken off the ventilator, we made our way down the hall, hurrying. To our surprise, Valerie was at my grandfather's bedside. She told us she didn't want to leave my grandfather alone, which I realized was in case he passed before we arrived, he would have somebody by his side. What an absolute humanity-restoring act; this is something that I will never forget. I hope that even though we were obviously in a different mindset, she knows that we truly appreciate her actions. Thank you for being such an amazing nurse.
