Trish understood her need to stay informed and empowered, and she became a steady source of support during her most vulnerable moments.
Earlier this year, my elderly mother was diagnosed with cancer and required several procedures. Her first visit was especially difficult—she was anxious and frail. That day, her nurse was Trish. From the moment they met, Trish offered comfort and reassurance, explaining each step of the process and gently holding my mother’s hand throughout the procedure.
Every time we returned for another appointment, my mother would ask for her. And each time, she was there, welcoming her with warmth and staying by her side for the entire visit. When my mother was later admitted to the hospital for a more complex procedure, Trish greeted us as she was wheeled into the treatment room. She even took the time to show me to a waiting area and sat with me for a while. Her presence was deeply comforting.
My mother passed away in August after a brief but courageous battle. I’m profoundly grateful to Trish for the compassion she showed both my mother and me. My mom was sharp-minded and liked to be in control; Trish understood her need to stay informed and empowered, and she became a steady source of support during her most vulnerable moments.
Trish's kindness went far beyond the duties of her role. My family and I will always be thankful for the care and empathy she extended to our mother during her final months.
