When Tracy found out, she decided to make it happen by bringing a guitar from home and singing to our little girl.
We were blessed to have Tracy as our night nurse on numerous occasions during our three weeks at Seattle Children’s. The days are long here, but the nights are especially long, and Tracy provided the best presence to help get us through. Her bedside manner was impeccable, and she had a genuine connection with our daughter, even during the difficult parts of her job, like dressing changes and IV replacements. She was the first person to tell us about a number of resources around the hospital to keep us occupied during the day, to better pass the time.

The playroom was a wonderful space that she made us aware of. Every interaction with her was so personal and genuine. One of the things she made us aware of and signed our daughter up for was music therapy. Unfortunately, there weren’t any slots available. When Tracy found out, she decided to make it happen by bringing a guitar from home and singing to our little girl. This brightened her evening and was far above and beyond the role of a nurse.

Another aspect we appreciated about her was the minimal interruptions during the time to allow more sleep, which was so hard to come by. This was our request to keep from waking our daughter every few hours to better promote healing. Tracy did a great job at fulfilling her duties while respecting our space. We had a handful of top-notch nurses during our time, but Tracy stands out among them all. She brought a presence of peace, experience, and attentiveness that does not go unnoticed. She was a real bright spot for our family during a very difficult time. We are so grateful and believe that her actions need to be recognized!
