Tracy Martin stepped into the role of Chief Nursing Officer following a long-serving predecessor, and in just a short period of time, she has made an extraordinary impact. Coming from a career spent entirely in the emergency department, the nursing leaders initially faced uncertainty about how this transition might affect their departments. However, when Tracy assumed her role, she eagerly and intentionally set out to learn and understand each of our area operations.

She has cultivated a more collaborative team of nursing directors, fostering incredible support, encouragement, and engagement across all departments—something that has not been felt in years. Tracy exemplifies transformational leadership, consistently prioritizing patient care as the foundation of our collective mission. She approaches challenges with humility, learning alongside her team, and continuously advocating for both patients and staff.

Her wealth of nursing and leadership experience has been instrumental in my development as a new nursing director, and I am deeply grateful for her guidance and mentorship. Additionally, this year, her diligence and collaboration with our team have successfully contributed to nurse retention, the reduction in the utilization of contracted staff, and the filling of open bedside nursing positions. She also brought a long-awaited vision to life by implementing a Nurse Leadership Academy, a testament to her ability to turn ambitious goals into reality.
