I have worked with Tracie since she became an RN on our floor back in 2011. She first oriented me as a Tech on our current floor together & she was outstanding at her job, she taught me the most information I could've learned in one shift. She then graduated nursing school & thankfully got a job here on the PINU, since then she has had a serious "bump" in the road - but has recovered tremendously. I look up to Tracie every day I come in to work with her. She is a phenomenal nurse & these patients are lucky to have her! Recently though I have really seen how wonderful of a nurse she truly is, to give you a good "picture" of her nursing skills & passionate care I can share a specific story with you.
Just recently we had a patient who is demented & sometimes difficult to handle. Tracie was outstanding trying to deal with the patient and her husband who was a patient on another floor. Both patients wanted to sign out against medical advice, but Tracie insisted that all the team members working with the two patients sit down & meet together to work out a "game plan". She took time out of her busy schedule to go down to the floor of the other patient to talk to the other RN & case manager. Tracie then had a "family" meeting in this patient's room & reasoned very well with both patients & convinced them both to stay. While all of this was going on, she couldn't have said "thank you" to the rest of the staff enough.
Tracie is always compassionate and caring with her patients. She is a tremendous nurse and I am lucky each day I get to work with someone so dedicated to her job. I look up to her everyday & look forward to many more shifts with her!
