This nurse received two nominations from clinical nursing students:

I would like to nominate this nurse for her outstanding care and embodiment of CHI’s mission and values. As her student learner, I had the opportunity to witness her exceptional nursing firsthand. During a challenging situation, a patient became very agitated and yelled at staff. This nurse remained calm, compassionate, and professional. She used therapeutic communication to de-escalate the patient, actively listened, validated their feelings, and successfully redirected the behavior. She showed true compassion, treating the patient with dignity and respect while maintaining integrity, compassion, and excellence in every aspect of care. It was an honor to observe her lead with patience and empathy. It has made an impact on the future nurse I want to be.

For the past 13 shifts, I have precepted with her, and she always goes above and beyond for her patients. She will forget lunch until I remind her because she’s always working and helping others. It has been an honor to learn from her.
