Being a Norton employee myself, I chose Norton Women’s and Children's Hospital to give birth to my son because of their excellent commitment to care.

We expected a smooth birth after having an easy pregnancy but then experienced an unexpected emergency requiring a stat cesarean surgery. The team in labor and delivery worked as a well-oiled, communicative team, moving as one to save my baby.

Within 5 minutes of identifying the issue, my son was born screaming and healthy - a blessing amid a scary situation. They held my hand and comforted me, communicated everything that was happening, and demonstrated a level of care that will keep me coming back to Norton providers for the rest of my life.

Special recognition goes to Tori Bunton and Megan Fugate.

Tori was with me from the beginning to the end of her shift, walking me through every step they were taking during my labor, and she remained cool and collected during my emergency and came to visit us in recovery after her shift.

I met Megan as I was being wheeled to the OR, and she was personally responsible for keeping my son stable before and during the surgery as his umbilical cord prolapsed. With one hand she held his lifeline and the other hand was holding mine, talking me through the situation and providing reassurance.

I'll always remember the quality of care, compassion and heart that you provided and the way you made me, and my family feel during this very stressful time.
