Tony just happened to be taking another patient out to go home. He saw us crying outside and just came up and gave us a hug. We didn’t need to say a word; he knew.
My husband had a very brief battle with liver failure, and during his treatment, he was admitted to Riverside multiple times. We were lucky enough to have Tony as our nurse each time. Tony was the most compassionate, caring, and consoling person to be a part of our journey. You could tell that he was feeling what we were feeling, but keeping it at the utmost professional level. It’s exactly what we needed during this horrible time. We ran into Tony also when we were having our last doctor appointment, when the doctor told my husband there was nothing else they could do for him. He was no longer treatable. Tony just happened to be taking another patient out to go home. He saw us crying outside and just came up and gave us a hug. We didn’t need to say a word; he knew. The things that make Tony Tony are things you cannot train… It is who the person is at their core. And we were lucky enough to get to know him briefly before my husband passed away.

My mother was a patient in the hospital. Tony was patient and gentle with her and made her laugh. When she came back from her procedure, she was confused and agitated. She was not sure where she was. Tony walked into the room shortly after she was brought back. She was confused but saw him and said, "I know you". He chatted with her for a few minutes, and she seemed calmer. Nurses need to be given more credit! They deal with people of all walks of life every day. And those that can put an old lady at ease are truly special!

Tony was an amazing support. His care and bedside manner were so professional despite being in a vulnerable position where you need to trust those around you. Tony was kind and compassionate, made me laugh, and was over and above supportive at checkout to make it easier on my family. I was very lucky to be in his care!

I was recently in Riverside, and my nerves were on edge. I arrived at my room, and Tony was right there to greet me and my wife. He was right away pleasant and informative about what was going to be taking place. I felt comforted by his information, and my stress level reduced. During my stay, Tony was very helpful in explaining what to expect. To be able to actually anticipate what a patient may need is a very rare gift, and Tony has that gift. Tony also made sure we understood how the food service worked and how to order. My wife also wishes to add her thanks to Tony for his support and attention. We wish to say thank you, Tony, and may God bless you.
