As a student Todd Exhibited quality care, and compassion throughout this year both in the classroom and clinical areas. Todd has a desire to make a difference in the lives of his patients and their families and caregivers. One of his clinical instructors wrote in an evaluation, “Todd brought a peaceful, calm, accepting attitude to his nursing practice”. The instructor described a time when Todd was assigned to a patient with Huntington’s Disease whose physical condition was rapidly deteriorating. Yet at the same time, the patient’s cognitive ability was intact, even though he was trapped in a failing body. The instructor and Todd noticed some of the staff were afraid of this patient due to his uncontrollable movements. It was difficult for this person to speak. Todd provided compassionate care to this individual. The patient called the instructor over at the end of the day and with difficulty stated “Thank you. He …. Nice”!

Todd truly makes a difference in the lives of his patients by being a caring and compassionate nurse that utilizes good communication skills.
