Imagine having your dream wedding planned on your parent’s wedding anniversary and then finding yourself in the cardiac neuro intensive care unit at the hospital just a few days prior to the big day.  Luckily for this patient, Toby Shields was the CNC in charge for the weekend and knew how much this meant to the patient. 

For those of you who know Toby, you know working at Wesley over the last 48 years has been such a light in her life and a true passion.  She shows up every shift with love in her heart, ready to help anyone and every one however she can, and this day, she was going to make this dream wedding come true.  

Toby immediately began coordinating with the bride, wedding planner, florist, photographer, bedside staff, and tons of family. One of the waiting rooms was completely transformed for the Sunday afternoon ceremony.  Toby even helped with hair and makeup.  Everything was so beautiful and perfect, just what the bride wanted!   After the ceremony, Toby even stayed late to help the wedding planner take the decorations down and load everything in their trailer. 

Toby, thank you for making this possible and for always being a patient advocate.  Our CNICU bride will always remember her special day and how much you impacted her life.  You are a testament to the Wesley mission statement and truly represent the characteristics of a DAISY Nurse. We are so fortunate to have you as part of the Wesley Healthcare team.
