I am honored to nominate Tina Sunshine for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. As a chaplain at SAH, I have had the privilege of witnessing first hand the unwavering compassion, skill, and dedication Tina brings to the 4th floor each day. Tina embodies what it means to be a truly exceptional nurse. I have seen her interact with patients with a rare combination of love, kindness and gentleness.  Her soft & steady tone of voice that soothes the most frustrated patients, or her ability to listen attentively & provide accurate, reassuring information. Tina's presence alone brings comfort. She takes the time to explain when the patient's next dose of medication will be, when the doctor is expected to visit, and any other details that ease their concerns.

Beyond medical care, Tina sees the whole person. I watched her tidy up a patient's room with care, making their bed so inviting that I would have gladly slept in it myself.  She responded immediately to a patient shivering from the cold, quickly gathered extra blankets, and gently tucked them in, making sure even their feet were covered & warm.  The gratitude on the patient's face was so profound that I almost cried.

But what truly sets Tina apart is her consistency of character. Even after handling the most challenging interactions, she remains calm and cheerful. She doesn't roll her eyes or vent frustrations to the medical team. Instead, she simply moves on to the next patient, providing the same level of dedication & kindness. Her care isn't just a monetary effort - it's who she is. Tina elevates patient care through her deep compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her top-notch nursing care and genuine heart are recognizable to her team on any given shift. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly believe that Tina Sunshine is a true DAISY Nurse.
