From day 1, Tina never ever gave up on our dad.
My father was admitted to Med 2 in LUH in early December. He was very unwell. Although he was 85, he was a fit and good 85-year-old. During his stay in Med 2, I cannot even begin to tell you how well he was looked after by the staff. But especially by the sister on the ward, Tina, I was given updates every single day from Tina and Dr. Mulpeter's team. I watched Tina stay late at work, come in on days off, and come in early because her ward was so busy. The care she gave Dad, I will never ever forget. I remember saying to Tina one day, "Will we just get him home?" And when I said home, I meant home to die. From day 1, Tina never ever gave up on our dad. She went above and beyond, and between her and the team, they built Dad up as best they could. On Dec 23rd, our daddy was allowed home. Many staff in Med 2 gathered to bid him farewell and wish him a happy Christmas. It was just beautiful. On that cold evening, Daddy came home to this grandkid's wife and us. He spoke so fondly off the staff in med 2..and especially Tina. Who never gave up on him. Our dad passed away peacefully on January 4th. And although we miss him terribly, I will always be grateful to Tina and her team. She has a heart of gold and is a credit to Letterkenny University Hospital. We as a family speak so fondly of the care she gave. The jokes she shared with Dad, and the genuine empathy and professionalism she showed during Dad's time.
