Her passion and dedication to improving the nurse workflow and improving the patient’s safety and satisfaction are undeniable.
Tiffany came to ARMC in 2016 from a Skilled Nursing facility. Ever since, she has focused on improving patient safety and improving nurses' workflow. Tiffany believes if there is workflow that is clear and simple, then the nurses’ compliance on following the policy and procedure will be increased and will improve patient safety and satisfaction. Her passion and dedication to improving the nurse workflow and improving the patient’s safety and satisfaction are undeniable.
For the years that she’s been here, Tiffany has earned many titles and responsibilities. She was a Shared Governance chair, Med-Surg peer review representative, preceptor, Nurse Patient Collaboration chair, fall Champion, EPIC superuser, Charge nurse and currently UPC secretary. Tiffany comes to work daily, putting her whole heart into everything she does. Tiffany always makes the team feel good and supported. She will individually check on every team member to make sure they are okay and not feeling overwhelmed.
Tiffany is quick to help in every situation and is always flexible. Tiffany can think critically and is an excellent resource when questions arise. One time, she had a trauma patient who had just come back from the OR. Tiffany noticed that the level of pain the patient was experiencing was too much compared to the procedure he had. She checked the patient’s circulation on the affected arm, checked the pulses, took the Doppler to hear the pulses, and when she couldn’t feel or hear any pulses, she called the doctor right away. The patient was experiencing signs of compartment syndrome after a vascular repair of his arm, and we had to get him to the OR for emergency surgery that same night. Her quick thinking and excellent assessment saved the patient’s arm. The wife thanked her, and the doctor commented “Good catch”.
Our unit is a lot different than most other units; Tiffany will take time to interact with our difficult patients as much as the patients allow her to. She gains their trust so she can take care of them. She will initiate multidisciplinary conferences to keep everyone aligned with the goal. Tiffany is an outstanding leader, nurse, mentor, and contributor to improving the nurse’s workflow, improving patient safety and satisfaction, and getting the nurses involved in patient safety initiatives here at ARMC. She is most deserving of this honor and recognition.
