I have been in many hospitals during my time, but I’ve never had a nurse quite like Tom. Tom goes above and beyond for his patient, and you can tell he loves what he does. I am in the hospital with chronic pain, so there’s a lot of discomfort that comes with that. Tom makes sure to go out of his way to make me as comfortable as possible. He makes sure to tell me when I can get medicine if I need it, as well as what that medicine helps with. It can be lonely being in the hospital, but Tom makes it less so. When he is in my room and administering meds, getting me water, chatting, etc. He always makes sure to chat with me. He is such a kind and compassionate soul. Even though he is incredibly busy in his shift, he will take time out of his busy schedule to bring happiness to those in his care. No one likes being in the hospital, but Tom makes sure that it’s not a bad stay. I had Tom back in October after my surgery and again in December. He recognized me immediately because he has such a caring heart and cares for his patients so deeply. He brings such a positive attitude to this job that he can turn a bad day into a not-so-bad day. I have never met another nurse who is so deserving of this award
