Her commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and genuine kindness embody the highest standards of our nursing profession. She truly makes a difference in the lives of their patients and their team every day.
I am honored to recognize Thi Duong, RN2 (C7 nurse), for her exceptional work ethic and unwavering dedication to patient care. She consistently goes above and beyond the duties of a charge nurse: compassion, professionalism, and a calm, reassuring presence to every patient interaction. She willingly steps up to help their colleagues, mentors’ new staff with patience and grace, and ensures that no patient need goes unmet—no matter how busy the day.
Her commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and genuine kindness embody the highest standards of our nursing profession. She truly makes a difference in the lives of their patients and their team every day. Thi Duong has always been an excellent nurse. There are many instances that prove that she has a caring heart for her patients and coworkers. There was one time when she had a patient receiving hospice care, and Thi was working overtime on another task, yet when she was asked for her help with hospice paperwork, she did not hesitate to share her knowledge.
Another instance is when there was a last-minute need for an RN escort for a patient transferring in restraints to Eastern State Hospital. The drive is 3 to 4 hours one way. This would require the escort to have clothes and personal essentials because the staff would need to sleep over in the area. No nurse was readily available for escort, but the transfer could not be delayed without hesitation. This was said to the team, “I have clothes in my locker. I will escort the patient.” She escorted the patient to Eastern State Hospital.Thi was a role model to her for her coworkers. She has the passion to take care of her patients until they’re discharged from the ward or discharged from Western State Hospital.
Another incident was when one of the patients had a very important appointment, and again, at the last minute, the patient needed to be transported in restraints. Thi did not hesitate to escort the patient. She has been helpful with her staff as well and provides education to the staff who are not aware of how things should be done, and welcomes new staff with kindness. She never complains, even if she has a lot of things to do or if her breaks are delayed, because her priority is the safety of her patients and coworkers.
