Reflecting on the level of care I received from Tess, it recalibrated my expectations for what recovery can feel like.
I highly recommend Tess for the prestigious DAISY Award. Her excellent work has left a lasting mark on my time at Dell Seton Medical Center. As a patient who had outpatient care, I experienced Tess's exceptional support. It made a huge difference. Tess’s hard work made a routine discharge feel special. The surgical care was great, but Tess added a healing touch. Her compassion transformed the entire experience.

As soon as I woke up in the recovery room, Tess was there. She was professional and caring, going beyond what I expected. She was always nearby, even though I was not the only patient. I’ve had multiple surgeries done in my life, including the removal of my appendix, a complicated shoulder surgery, and aquablation. So, I know the difference a person can make in recovery. Tess's emotional intelligence and timing really stand out. She showed a unique ability to read the room and the people in it, including me. She asked a few times about my wife's arrival, but didn't push me. She let me decide with her when I was ready to leave. This thoughtful approach transformed a potentially stressful transition into one of safety, dignity, and trust, while maintaining efficiency.

She didn’t just follow instructions, but anticipated needs. She advocated for me quietly but powerfully, making sure I had time, clarity, and control over my recovery decisions. That kind of patient ownership can’t be trained. It’s a mindset.

Reflecting on the level of care I received from Tess, it recalibrated my expectations for what recovery can feel like. Such a lasting impression fosters loyalty to the hospital and trust in its staff.

She clearly fulfills the mission of Dell Seton Medical Center, but in addition, she also elevates it. She leads with heart, executes with precision, and embodies patient-centered care in its truest form. Her contributions have earned her a special place in the hearts of her patients, including mine.
