I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding care my father received during his recent stay at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, and to specifically recognize Teresa Wilmoth, APRN, for going above and beyond in every possible way.

My father was admitted after a fall and required a CT study. While in the ER, he went into Afib, which is not unusual for him during stressful situations. He was admitted so his heart rate could be regulated. During her rounds, Teresa noticed that he wasn’t looking well and seemed “puny,” and she ordered additional testing for COVID, Flu, and other respiratory illnesses. Thanks to her attentiveness, he was diagnosed with Flu A.

Throughout his stay, Teresa took the initiative to call me personally with updates on Friday, Sunday, and again on Monday. She explained everything in clear, easy-to-understand terms and walked me through what was happening with his heart and overall condition. As someone who lives in North Carolina while my father is hospitalized in Florida, her communication meant the world to me.

One moment in particular truly moved me. During her rounding on Monday, Teresa noticed my father hadn’t finished his breakfast, specifically his grits. Since he is unable to feed himself, she kindly took the time to feed him the rest of his meal. This simple act of compassion speaks volumes about her dedication to her patients.

Teresa’s kindness, attentiveness, and consistent communication brought me tremendous comfort during a stressful time. She cared for my father as if he were her own family, and I am deeply grateful for everything she did.
