But most importantly because of this attitude, I truly feel he helped our baby recover at a speed that might not have been the same without him.
Our daughter was admitted to St. Joe’s for severe congestion which limited her breathing and eating. Her being so little with so very few care and medication options was extremely scary and at times incredibly overwhelming for me and I honestly had no idea how it would all end up. Then one night we meet this nurse! The first thing he did was explain that his goal was for us to understand as much of what we were doing for our daughter as possible so that we could ask the right questions and be a team together in helping her get the care she needed to get well as soon as possible. This alone was exceptional. He was patient and real and took real time to sit with me and my husband and explain and hear out our observations and concerns in a way that felt incorporating and heartfelt but most of all just as determined as we were to help our baby girl. I know our floor was very busy and he never made us feel like we had to wait for his care or hurry in our communication with him. Each night with him we saw great improvement in our mood but more importantly our daughter's plan of care. He made sure to pass on as much information to turnover staff as possible so that they could continue to help us how we needed to be helped. But most importantly because of this attitude, I truly feel he helped our baby recover at a speed that might not have been the same without him. He helped me see the wins we were gaining and to get me through one of the toughest moments of my life and helped my baby girl get the care she needed to recover as fast as we could help her do so. This and just his caring and humorous nature alone deserve him so much and I want to be sure he knows just how grateful we are for him and his work.
