He not only provides exceptional medical care but also leads by example, approaching every situation with kindness and respect.
Taylor Gregory, BSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, a newly-appointed Assistant Director of Patient Care for two Medical-Surgical Units who was praised for exemplifying extraordinary leadership, compassion, and dedication, has been honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®, endorsed by The DAISY Foundation.

Taylor, who joined as a staff nurse at MMC in 2019, received multiple nominations for the DAISY Award. Among the comments shared were:

Taylor truly embodies the spirit of this prestigious recognition. As the night Unit Nurse Leader for Community 2 and Betty Block Roberts 2, Taylor consistently goes above and beyond the expectations of his role, not only helping with managerial aspects of the floor, but also being a support to the nurses on the floor and providing outstanding patient care. He is there at a moment’s notice to help, whether it is with a late discharge, a tough stick, or just to be a listening ear.

Taylor is a natural leader who inspires trust and respect in both his colleagues and the patients on the floors. His calming presence is immediately felt by everyone around him. He is committed to creating a positive and supportive atmosphere, which is apparent in how he listens, encourages, and guides his team members, especially newer nurses. He always strives to help them reach their full potential. Taylor consistently demonstrates the highest level of ethical behavior, making decisions with integrity and ensuring that his team operates with the same standard of care and respect for others. He fosters a culture where continuous professional development is not only encouraged but actively supported. Taylor regularly takes time to mentor others, offering advice, sharing knowledge, and leading by example. He stays later than required most nights to assist with any lingering challenges, whether it's a patient concern or helping colleagues navigate a difficult shift.

Overall, Taylor’s willingness to support his team and patients in every circumstance is unmatched. He makes every person on the unit feel valued and heard, building an environment where mutual respect and collaboration thrive. His leadership creates a sense of unity and shared purpose, making him an irreplaceable asset to the nursing staff and to the institution.

I am nominating Taylor Gregory for the DAISY Award because of his extraordinary compassion, dedication, and the way he goes above and beyond to care for the staff and his patients. He not only provides exceptional medical care but also leads by example, approaching every situation with kindness and respect. He is proud yet humble; he doesn’t like attention and doesn’t do things for recognition. Taylor has the biggest heart and is always accepting of everyone on his team. He is always willing to help and can frequently be found running an errand for a nurse, solving a problem, or simply sitting at the bedside with a patient.

I always hear from other nurses, supervisors, clinical care technicians, and rapid response team nurses just how amazing and helpful he is to them. Taylor is so genuine; his presence alone is calming and comforting. This profession is tough, it is often thankless and exhausting. On some shifts, you take the heat from an angry patient, and on another shift, you spend so much time with a patient that it reignites your passion and drive. Taylor is truly inspiring the way he juggles multiple tasks, completes his job tasks, and graciously helps his staff. He leads by example; he is trustworthy, kind, and professional.
