Tatyana Estimphil, RN
I am recognizing Tatyana Estimphil because she perfectly embodies what it means to be an exceptional nurse, especially during high-stress moments when patients feel the most vulnerable.
During a recent shift, we had a patient who was incredibly anxious, disoriented, and visibly overwhelmed by the chaotic hospital environment. They were resisting care and refusing to be moved for a critical procedure, which was stalling their treatment plan.
Instead of treating this as just another box to check or trying to rush the process, Tatyana completely paused what she was doing. She stepped up to the bedside, dropped down to eye level with the patient, and spoke to them with an incredible amount of patience, dignity, and calm authority. She took the time to explain exactly what was going to happen, validating their fears without minimizing the importance of the procedure.
What struck me most was how she coordinated with the rest of the care team, including the transport staff, to ensure the transition was entirely seamless, safe, and completely stress-free for the patient. By the time we moved the patient, their vitals had stabilized, their anxiety had melted away, and they completely trusted the team.
Tatyana doesn't just manage clinical charts; she manages human beings with profound empathy. Her ability to advocate for her patients, command a room with kindness, and ensure that every single stage of a patient's movement through the hospital is handled with safety and respect makes a massive difference every single day.
She is a true asset to our healthcare team.
