Nurse Tasha came in and talked to us in a very calm and reassuring manner to let us know what was happening and what was going to happen.
My 95-year-old mom passed away at St. Elizabeth's after being admitted a week earlier. I wanted to let you know that we felt that her care and the nurses and doctors were all excellent. The doctors made daily calls to my sister in Toronto with updates. After being in the hospital for a couple of days, my mom said she did not want any more treatment and she knew it was time to go. There were four of my mom's children coming to visit daily, and the nurses were so nice about providing snacks, water, and drinks for us as well as caring for my mom.
On the morning she passed, Nurse Tasha called two of my sisters to let them know that she thought the end was near and we should get to the hospital. My brother and I arrived at 5 AM, and my mom was unconscious but resting comfortably. Nurse Tasha came in and talked to us in a very calm and reassuring manner to let us know what was happening and what was going to happen. My mom passed an hour later at 6 AM. Tasha was very sweet and let us know we could stay with Mom as long as we needed. She let us know the steps that would happen with the mortuary. She then said she wanted to clean up Mom a bit and asked us if we wanted to step outside the room. We stepped outside while she and another nurse wiped down my mom's face and hair, and we could hear her talking to my mom the whole time. She was so caring, gentle, and sweet. We are very grateful for Tasha's compassion for our family, as well as for my mom.
