My mother, who was no stranger to CFVMC Hospital, was admitted due to Pneumonia and a severe UTI on her birthday. Unfortunately, mommy became septic, and I had to make the hardest decision and remove her from life support and start hospice. She died while I held her.

During this whole ordeal, Tasha demonstrated sympathy, compassion, kindness, and gentleness. The first day I met Tasha, she didn't know I was outside my mom's door, and I heard how she spoke to her, as if Mom was wide awake. She spoke to her kindly, lovingly, and every time she repositioned her, she would tell her what she was doing as if my mom was alert and oriented.

As someone in the nursing field and finishing my nursing license, I see Tasha as the perfect example of what I wish to become. She was honest about everything. When I felt overwhelmed when a faculty member came to talk about organ donation, she advocated for me as I couldn't comprehend what was happening to my mommy. I thought she had just turned 64 years old two days ago, and now she is dying? I'm still struggling to come to terms with this.

You can tell that Tasha was made to be a nurse. On behalf of my family, I strongly believe Tasha deserves a DAISY Award.

Thank you, Tasha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
