I am honored to nominate Tania Bustillo for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, as her exceptional leadership embodies the true essence of servant leadership. Tania is the kind of leader who consistently puts the needs of her team and the patients first. Her dedication, approachability, and efficiency make her a standout leader and an invaluable asset to our team. One of the most memorable demonstrations of Tania's servant leadership occurred when she delivered a baby in the hallway. This act of selflessness exemplified her willingness to go above and beyond for her team and the patients we serve. In moments of crisis or challenge, Tania remains calm, resourceful, and always ready to act. She understands that leadership isn’t about authority, but about service to others, and she continually models this in her actions.
Tania's approachability is unmatched. No matter how busy or stressed she may be, she makes herself available to her team. She listens attentively to our concerns, suggestions, and ideas, always taking the time to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. Her open-door policy (if she even is in her office and not on the floor) fosters an environment of trust and collaboration, where we feel valued and supported. Furthermore, Tania is constantly looking for ways to improve patient care. If there is ever a need or request from the team to enhance the quality of care we provide, Tania ensures that we have the resources and support to meet those needs. Whether it’s acquiring necessary equipment, addressing workflow challenges, or ensuring additional training, Tania is quick to act and always follows through with precision and care. Her efficiency in follow-through ensures that no matter how busy the day gets, the goals and needs of the team are met.
