Every day, we see this leader on the unit supporting, guiding, and helping her team achieve success. Takara Gray is instrumental in leading the transformation of the team to help improve the quality and patient care on the Acute Stroke Unit. She is not afraid to dive into the details to ensure our patients receive the exceptional care they deserve. Even when she faces challenges in her unit, she consistently maintains a positive, can-do attitude that is reflected in the team she leads. This leader is passionate about helping the team improve patient experience, patient mobility, and solidifying a strong team culture with all team members on the unit. She is always present first thing in the morning and is seen rounding throughout the day with the patients, patient’s family members, and staff members. Her compassion and willingness to provide excellent patient care shines and is a role model to others.

An example of her exceptional leadership skills was evident the other day when she was celebrating with everyone how the team successfully moved a patient who required everyone’s involvement and strength. The excitement and joy that she brought was contagious and recognized by everyone.

Not only is she working to improve patient care and quality, but she is also improving her team’s spirit and purpose in the health care field. This nurse leader’s skill and compassionate care demonstrate the kind of nurse leader our patients, their families, and our team members recognize, and she is an outstanding role model on her unit.
